Moose-AKa's is a family owned and operated Eastern European Restaurant. Owner Michael-Jared Waring and Manager Maja began their journey as seasonal employees in 2011 and 2009 respectively. In 2015 they opened their food truck in Healy, just 10 miles north of the town of Denali, serving dinner and the late night bar crowd. They quickly gained the support of the locals and seasonal employees. Within 2 years of being open the opportunity to move into a brick a mortar restaurant presented itself. They made a leap of faith to follow their dream of owning the only restaurant in the area offering a different fare than the typical Steak, Seafood, Pizza, and Burgers. In April of 2017 they began remodeling, with their own hands, what was once a fish and chips restaurant into an authentic Serbian style tavern adorned with antiques collected in Serbia. In November 2017 FOODANDWINE.COM wrote an article in which they named Moose-AKa's the coziest restaurant in Alaska.
